Homeless individuals without fixed addresses or stable living conditions face significant challenges in securing and maintaining jobs. Many homeless individuals who seek employment also lack transferable job skills or a consistent work history and are often overlooked in this highly competitive employment market. Renaissance Works is a social enterprise initiative designed to provide lasting solutions to these problems. Our employment counselors assess individual skills, help develop employment plans and resumes and provide job interview coaching. They recruit employers receptive to hiring homeless individuals in order to match them with Coalition clients who will be a good fit for their workplace.
The Coalition also hires homeless individuals directly, whenever possible. We’ve created opportunities for our clients in the areas of maintenance, housekeeping, construction, transportation, parking lot management and in the restaurant industry.
The Coalition’s Supportive Employment and Vocational Services provided assistance to 264 individuals through 780 sessions in 2010.
