1. What is the application process?
Individuals interested in volunteering with Colorado Coalition for the Homeless must first completely fill out our volunteer application, specifying availability, desired volunteer position, and estimated length of service. If there are any particular skills or experiences that are relevant—please include on a separate page or on the back of the application. Once we have matched you to a volunteer position, the volunteer coordinator or a program manager will call to discuss program details, volunteer hours, expectations, and to ask/answer further questions. Once the placement has been confirmed by both the volunteer and the program supervisor, the following forms will be given to the volunteer to complete: Background Check Authorization, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Release of Responsibility. The entire application process takes two to five weeks to complete.

2. Do you accept walk-in applications?

Yes. Please drop off your application at the front desk of our main building at 2111 Champa Street.

3. Are there volunteer positions available for minors (persons under 18)?

Generally, the Coalition is not able to utilize help of minors as on-site volunteers. However, there are occasionally event-related opportunities for minors. We also strongly encourage persons under the age of 18 to organize a community drive, assembling needed items into packs, kits, or baskets for homeless families and individuals.

4. Can I still apply if none of the current volunteer openings interest me?
Yes. Please feel free to suggest volunteer roles that are not included on our long-term opportunities page by attaching a cover letter detailing your interests to your volunteer application. We cannot guarantee volunteer placement, but your application will be kept on file. Please check our volunteer opportunities page frequently for updated volunteer openings.
5. If I’m interested in more than one volunteer position, do I have to apply to each one?
No. On the volunteer application, there is space for you to list 3 volunteer positions in which you are interested. If you would like to be considered for more than 3 positions, please write them in on the same page.

6. How long are applications kept on file?
Applications are kept on file for one year. However, applications are not automatically considered for each new opportunity. Please check the list of available volunteer opportunities frequently and apply accordingly. If you’re contacted for an interview, be sure to inform the interviewer about other Coalition volunteer positions for which you’ve applied.

7. Can current or former Coalition clients, patients, consumers and/or residents apply for a volunteer position?

Yes. However, due to matters of confidentiality, we may be unable to consider current and/or former consumers for the same program where they received services.
