Interns receiving their masters in Social Work or Clinical Counseling provide support to individuals and families by directly assisting clients with their goals in alignment with the Coalition’s mission, goals and objectives. Interns will link clients to community resources, give assessments and develop service plans utilizing the strengths-based case management model. Interns will conduct clinical assessments, make diagnostic and treatment recommendations, carry a small caseload of clients and utilize individual, family, couples, and/or group therapy. Interns will also document all client interactions, attend weekly supervision and team meetings and help with administrate duties as necessary.
Dual Diagnosis Outreach Team (DDOT) Program/Position Summary: DDOT takes referrals directly from the Denver Street Outreach Collaborative. DDOT focuses on homeless adults who have co-occurring mental health and/or medical disorders in conjunction with an addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. DDOT is a multidisciplinary team and the intern would be part of that team. This position is expected to participate in team meetings and work alongside the staff. This includes treatment planning, performing intakes (psychosocial), housing clients, case management and work with our Integrated Dual Diagnosis Therapist. They would also be required to complete all corresponding paperwork for the position, therefore being a fully integrated member of the team.
Beacon Place Program/Position Summary: The intern at Beacon place will be responsible for providing individual and group counseling for residents at Beacon Place, the Veterans Program and the Ruth Goebel Women’s Program. They will also be responsible for documentation in the form of progress notes, treatment plans, and other clinical duties as necessary. They will have a small caseload of individual clients for weekly therapy. They will attend clinical supervision 1 hour per week. Crisis Intervention, as needed.
Family Supportive Services
(3 available positions)Program/Position Summary: Family Support Services (FSS) provides assessment, mental health services (individual, family, play and/or group therapy), community activities and case management for homeless and formerly homeless families living in transitional housing programs or in permanent Section 8-project-based housing. The Intern will be responsible for providing clinical and case management services to a small caseload of homeless and formerly homeless families. They will collaborate with team members and co-facilitate group therapy for children, parents, and families. They will conduct psychosocial and needs assessments as deemed appropriate by the team. They will assist clients in identifying and accessing goods/services for both immediate and long term needs. Will communicate clinical assessments, interventions and client contact through timely, thorough record keeping. Attends and participates in meetings deemed appropriate by supervisor
