FEDERAL STRATEGIC PLAN TO END HOMELESSNESS TO BE RELEASED TOMORROW Colorado Coalition for the Homeless President John Parvensky to Participate in White House Event On Tuesday, June 22nd at 9:00 a.m., the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) will host an event at the White House to release Opening Doors: The Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness (Federal Strategic Plan). The Coalition’s President John Parvensky will join USICH Executive Director Barbara Poppe, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and USICH Chair Shaun Donovan, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor and USICH Vice-chair Hilda Solis, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, White House Domestic Policy Council Director Melody Barnes and members of the advocacy community for this important event. The Federal Strategic Plan is mandated by the HEARTH Act which was signed into law by President Obama in May 2009. The USICH conducted an extensive community and stakeholder engagement program to solicit public comment and input on this action plan to solve the crisis of homelessness for veterans, adults, families and youth. The Federal Strategic Plan calls for a fundamental shift in the way that the federal government and communities across the country respond to homelessness and creates collaborative partnerships both between agencies and levels of government to enable the Administration to approach the key goal of preventing Americans from experiencing homelessness.
